Infusion

Definition

Non-continuous manufacturing process for composite profiles. It consists of vacuum-packing fibers in a closed mold which are then impregnated by aspiration of a polymer through this mold. This process allows the manufacture of parts with complex shapes. However, this process does not allow proper fiber placement (unlike the "pull" of pultrusion). This process allows the manufacture of infused strips with higher crimp than pultruded strips.
