Property of a loose and water-saturated sediment to suddenly become liquid under the effect of mechanical shaking that resuspends the particles in the water. (This is the phenomenon that causes sinking in quicksand.) Epoxy resins used for carbon fiber reinforcement application are thixotropic until their polymerization.
