At ArcelorMittal’s industrial site in Florange, TES TECHNIFOR is working on behalf of EST TP on reinforced concrete slabs damaged by operational use.
The aim is to carry out the controlled dismantling of the existing sections, combining sawing, core drilling, division into blocks and block handling to allow the structures to be rebuilt.
In the first work area, the teams are working on a reinforced concrete slab measuring 4.00 × 8.43 metres and 50 cm thick.
Dividing the slab into blocks before lifting
The slab is cut using a wall saw and divided into blocks measuring approximately 1.00 × 4.00 metres. Core holes with a diameter of 200 mm are drilled at the intersections of the saw cuts.
This sequence prepares the different sections of the slab for controlled removal.
The cut blocks are then lifted using the site’s overhead crane before being removed from the work area.
This stage is a key feature of the operation: the sawing must be planned around both the dimensions of the sections to be removed and their handling within the existing industrial environment.
Sawing and core drilling at the slab edges
A second phase involves removing damaged concrete from the slab edges on three sides, over a height of 40 cm and a depth of 25 cm.
The work combines horizontal and vertical saw cuts with core drilling at the corners. The affected sections are divided into six blocks to allow their removal.
Here again, the method ensures controlled cutting of the existing elements before lifting and removal.
Working in an industrial environment
Beyond the thickness of the concrete to be cut, the site layout requires precise coordination of each stage: sawing, core drilling, division into blocks, lifting and removal.
This operation for EST TP draws on TES TECHNIFOR’s expertise in concrete sawing and core drilling, using equipment and methods adapted to the constraints of an existing structure and an industrial environment.
