Last Thursday at the Lorraine Association for Severely Disabled People site in Laxou, our colleague Jean-René prevented a major fire thanks to his composure and the skills learned in fire safety training.
An aerosol can forgotten for years in an expansion joint filled with 10 cm of polystyrene and formwork boards triggered a fire that could have spread within minutes across several floors.
Seeing the smoke, Jean-René immediately understood that the situation could become disastrous if he didn't act instantly. His intervention changed everything:
- immediately grabbed a fire extinguisher,
- alerted fire safety,
- contained the fire while waiting for firefighters (9 extinguishers used).
The site management personally congratulated him: his two minutes of reflex made the difference between a controlled incident... and a certain human tragedy, in a facility where residents cannot be evacuated.
This event is a powerful reminder: safety training is not a formality. It is essential.
Congratulations to Jean-René for his exceptional professionalism, and thank you to all our trained teams who watch over everyone's safety every day.
