Survey

Definition

Drilling and sampling in a soil or existing structure in order to check its composition and the mechanical characteristics of its framework. It consists of making small section excavations or drillings, with sampling allowing identification of the soils or structures encountered and determination in the laboratory of their physical and mechanical characteristics. Soil surveys can use a penetrometer or pressuremeter. Other methods, involving larger areas, are based on seismic, electrical, gravimetric, etc. processes.
