In Metz, this city-centre building was stabilised… without altering its façade. Yet behind its elegant architecture lay a hidden problem: unstable ground, voids beneath the foundations and cracks that were continuing to develop.
The challenge was to achieve lasting stabilisation without undertaking major works on the existing structure.
TES TECHNIFOR’s teams worked directly beneath the building to strengthen its foundation support through cement grout injections. This technique fills voids in the ground and progressively consolidates the soil, restoring firm support to the structure.
The work involved:
-
injecting several cubic metres of cement grout beneath the foundations;
-
filling voids in the ground;
-
progressively strengthening the supporting soil.
Throughout the project, building movements were monitored in real time using highly precise measuring instruments. The injections could therefore be continuously adjusted to maintain the stability of the structure.
An apparently discreet operation: no crane and no visible major construction works. Yet the stability of the entire building depended on the work taking place underground.
The work was carried out in particularly tight spaces within the building. Well done to our teams for their precision, technical expertise and ability to work in a restricted environment.
